JL Hoops Basketball Camps was created by Coach Jason Ludwig in 2005 with the purpose of mentoring and educating youth in basketball and in life. Through our camps we hope to give youth an opportunity to develop their basketball skills and learn life lessons that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

Coach Jason Ludwig is in his second stint with UCLA Basketball and currently in his fourth year as the Video Coordinator and Camp Director under Head Coach Ben Howland. As the Video Coordinator, some of Coach Ludwig’s responsibilities include breaking down opponent game film, formulating opponent scouting reports and self scout film break down. As the UCLA Basketball Camp Director, Coach Ludwig oversees and instructs all of the UCLA and Ben Howland Camps where over 1,400 kids attend every summer.

While at UCLA, Coach Ludwig has been a part of 5 NCAA Tournament Teams including 2 Final Fours in 2006 and 2007, a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2002, a 2nd Round appearance in 2011 and a 1st Round appearance in 2005. In addition, Coach Ludwig has had the opportunity to work with NBA players such as Russell Westbrook, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Arron Afflalo, Jordan Farmar, Ryan Hollins, Trevor Ariza, Darren Collison, Jason Kapono, Matt Barnes and Dan Gadzuric.

In the fall of 2007, coach Ludwig joined Kerry Keating’s staff at Santa Clara University as the Video Coordinator. In 2008 he was promoted to the Director of Basketball Operations and Camp Director for the Broncos.

In the summer of 2007 he joined Double Pump Inc. as the Director of Basketball Operations and Assistant basketball coach. He was responsible for the day to day operations of the organization as well as coaching their nationally recognized AAU basketball team. While with Double Pump, he coached a program that produced NBA players Jrue Holiday, Paul George and future pro Klay Thompson.

Coach Ludwig attended UCLA, from 2001 to 2005, where he began his coaching career as a Student Manager. In 2005, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics and following graduation was promoted to Assistant Video Coordinator with the Bruins. As the Assistant Video Coordinator in 2006 and 2007, Coach Ludwig was involved in many facets of the program including breaking down game and practice film, summer camps, practice, film exchange, as well as other day to day responsibilities.

Coach Ludwig is a product of the East Los Angeles area. He played his high school basketball at Montebello High. While at Montebello, he was named to the 2001 Whittier Daily News 1st Team All-Area Team and earned team MVP honors in his Junior and Senior year. In 2001, his Senior year, he lead the Oilers to their first League Championship in thirty years and into the 2nd round of the CIF Southern Section Playoffs which had not been done in over a decade.

    WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW

    CAMP WILL BE HELD AT SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL GYM LOCATED AT: 10400 Orr and Day Road, Santa Fe Springs, CA

    Gym doors will open at 9:30am. Camp will begin promptly at 10:00am and finish at 2:30pm.

    Lunch will be from 12:00pm – 12:30pm. Campers can purchase pizza and water for a $1 each or bring their own lunch.

    What to Bring: Shorts, t-shirt and sneakers. DO NOT BRING A BASKETBALL.

    Parents are welcome to stay and observe the camp.
