JL Hoops was created in 2005 by coach Jason Ludwig with the
purpose of giving kids from the greater East Los Angeles area an
opportunity to:
-Develop their basketball skills
-Showcase these skills in a highly competitive environment
-Have access to advanced forms of basketball instruction and
teaching
-Use basketball as a tool to achieve success
Coach Ludwig is a product of the East Los Angeles area where he
grew up playing sports. He played his high school basketball at
Montebello High. While at Montebello he earned team MVP honors
his Junior and Senior year and, in 2001, he lead the Oilers to their
first League Championship in thirty years and into the 2nd round of
the CIF Southern Section Playoffs which had not been done in over
a decade.
After High School he attended UCLA where he began his coaching
career as a Student Manager. In 2005, he earned his bachelor's
degree in Economics and following graduation was promoted to
Assistant Video Coordinator with the Bruins. While at UCLA, Coach
Ludwig was involved in many facets of the program including
breaking down game and practice film, summer camps, practice, film
exchange, as well as other day to day responsibilities. During his
time with the Bruins he was a part of 4 NCAA tournament teams
including an NCAA 1st Round appearance in 2005, Sweet Sixteen
appearance in 2002, and 2 Final Fours in 2006 and 2007. In
addition, coach Ludwig has had the opportunity to work the pros
such as Russell Westbrook, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Arron Afflalo,
Jordan Farmar, Ryan Hollins, Trevor Ariza and Dijon Thompson.
In the summer of 2007 he joined Double Pump Inc. as the Director
of Basketball Operations and Assistant basketball coach. He was
responsible for the day to day operations of the organization as well
as coaching their nationally recognized AAU basketball team. While
with Double Pump, coach Ludwig was a part of a Double Pump Elite
team that sent all nine of its players to Division 1 Basketball programs
on full scholarships including schools such as Washington State,
Santa Clara, Fresno State, Pepperdine, San Diego State and Portland
State.
In the fall of 2007, coach Ludwig joined Kerry Keating's staff at
Santa Clara University as the Video Coordinator. In 2008 he was
promoted to the Director of Basketball Operations.
